The client
Luffy AI builds neuroplastic AI for real-time control of physical machines. Founded by Matthew Carr and Alex Meakins, two former nuclear physicists from the UK Atomic Energy Authority, the company sits at Culham Campus near Oxford and is one of the county’s most exciting deep-tech startups.
Deep tech has a communication problem: the work is genuinely hard to explain, and the people doing it rarely have time to stop and tell their own story. Luffy AI needed that story told properly, on film and in photographs, before the moment when the wider world would come looking.

What we did
We produced Luffy AI’s funding video: the story of who they are, why they exist, and what they are building, told by the founders themselves. A funding film does a job no pitch deck can. It puts faces and conviction on the record, and it works just as hard for investors, hires, and press as it does on a website.
Alongside the film, we shot a full set of commercial photography: founders, the working environment, and professional headshots for the entire team. Every image was edited, named to a consistent convention, and delivered in an organised, searchable library so the team could find and share the right image in seconds.
Full-team headshots are an underrated startup asset. Every LinkedIn profile, website team page, conference bio, and press request draws on them, and having the whole company shot in a consistent style makes the business look like one team rather than a collection of selfies.

The result
In July 2026, Luffy AI announced an £8.1M Series A led by BGF, with MIG Capital, Bow Capital, Chrysalix Venture Capital, Momenta Ventures, and UK Innovation & Science Seed Fund (UKI2S) also participating. When national press covered the story, the company had professional imagery ready to hand, and photographs taken by EMV were published in The Times. You can watch the announcement, and the funding video itself, on Luffy AI’s LinkedIn post.
That is the quiet value of doing this work before you need it. Press moments arrive on their own schedule. The companies that look world-class in those moments are the ones that prepared while things were calm.
Why it matters for your business
If your company is heading towards a funding round, a product launch, or any moment of public attention, the time to build your visual assets is now. A funding film and a press-ready image library are not vanity items. They are infrastructure for the moment your story breaks.
